AZ SB1398

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 15-302 to modify the county school superintendent's authority over special elections for school district governing board vacancies.

Requires that if a county school superintendent announces a public election to fill a governing board vacancy, that election may only be canceled by the county board of supervisors as prescribed by section 16-410.

Maintains the superintendent's existing authority to call special elections to fill vacancies at their discretion, with newly elected members serving the remainder of the unexpired term.

Clarifies that the superintendent must still follow procedures for appointing board members from lists submitted by school district governing boards, or may choose to hold a special election instead.
