Policies must ensure homework availability for chronically ill pupils so they can maintain academic progress and avoid losing credit during absences.

Policies must allow flexibility in physical education requirements so chronically ill pupils can participate in regular PE programs to the extent their health permits.

School personnel cannot authorize absences, recommend medication, or provide medication without prior parental consent.

"Chronic health problems" includes intermittent absences due to illness or accidents, long-term medical conditions, and situations where students care for infants with severe health problems, as certified by licensed health professionals.
