HB 2633 Summary

• Requires health insurance contracts entered into or renewed on or after January 1, 2014 to reimburse health care providers for the acquisition costs of CDC-recommended child and adolescent vaccines at the current CDC private sector cost plus a minimum 21% markup for shipping, handling, and storage.

• Prohibits health care providers from being required to assume financial risk for vaccine acquisition costs as a condition of accepting insurance contracts.

• Mandates that health insurance policies covering childhood and adolescent vaccines must have no deductibles, cost-sharing, or dollar limits on immunization coverage and update benefits within 30 days of new CDC recommendations.

• Applies requirements to organizations licensed under multiple insurance chapters including HMOs, health care services organizations, disability insurers, group disability insurers, blanket disability insurers, and accountable health plans.

• Sections 20-848, 20-1057.13, 20-1342.07, 20-1402.05, 20-1404.05, and 20-2333 are repealed effective December 31, 2015.
