SB 1004 Summary

• Prohibits employers from terminating an employee or threatening termination when the employee leaves work to attend to a child's emergency after being notified by a school employee, community worker, or law enforcement officer during work hours.

• Applies to employees acting as a parent, guardian, or custodian of a child.

• Allows employers to terminate or threaten termination if an employee excessively abuses the protections provided by this law.

• Adds section 23-204 to Arizona Revised Statutes Title 23, Chapter 2, Article 1.
