SB1148 Summary

• Repeals and replaces Arizona Revised Statutes Section 23-904 regarding workers' compensation coverage for workers injured outside Arizona or foreign workers injured in Arizona.

• Entitles Arizona-hired or regularly employed workers to compensation under Arizona law even if the injury occurred outside the state.

• Exempts out-of-state workers temporarily in Arizona from Arizona workers' compensation requirements if they carry coverage under their home state's workers' compensation laws and reciprocal agreements exist.

• Requires courts to take judicial notice of other states' workers' compensation laws and establishes that a certificate from an insurance officer is prima facie evidence of employer coverage.

• Provides that if a worker has a claim under another state's workers' compensation laws for the same injury, the compensation paid under that state's laws is credited against Arizona compensation, with the worker receiving whichever amount is greater.
