School districts and charter schools may provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training to students in grades 7-12 using age-appropriate psychomotor skills methods.

CPR training must be based on current nationally recognized nonprofit organization standards aligned with the most current national evidence-based emergency cardiovascular care guidelines.

CPR certification instruction must be provided by a certified CPR trainer, but teachers facilitating non-certification training do not need to be authorized trainers.

Students may be excused from CPR training at the request of their parent or with written documentation of prior CPR training or current CPR certification.

School districts and charter schools may accept in-kind donations of materials, equipment, or services to support CPR instruction; the law became effective June 30, 2015.
