Amends Arizona's unlawful imprisonment statute to include "detention officer" alongside peace officers as a legal defense to the charge, allowing detention officers acting in good faith in lawful performance of duty to restrain persons without committing unlawful imprisonment.

Defines "detention officer" as a person employed by a county, city or town responsible for supervision, protection, care, custody or control of inmates in a county or municipal correctional institution, excluding counselors, secretarial, clerical, or professionally trained personnel.

Creates a new statute allowing detention officers acting in their official capacity at a jail facility where they are employed to arrest a person pursuant to a warrant, either when the person is already incarcerated at that facility or when they surrender to it.

Changes language in unlawful imprisonment statute from "prior to" arrest to "before" arrest when describing when a victim must be released voluntarily to constitute a class 1 misdemeanor rather than a class 6 felony.
