HB 2227 Summary

• Amends Arizona liquor laws to clarify definitions and regulations for "microbrewery" and "farm winery" licenses, replacing "domestic microbrewery" and "domestic farm winery" terminology with simplified "microbrewery" and "farm winery" definitions.

• Increases microbrewery annual production limits from 1,240,000 gallons to 200,000 barrels and modifies the amount of beer microbreweries can deliver to other licensed retailers from 93,000 gallons to 3,000 barrels annually.

• Allows microbreweries to purchase and sell wine produced by farm wineries and beer produced by other microbreweries for on-premises consumption, with mandatory wholesaler purchases unless certain distribution exemptions apply.

• Makes technical corrections throughout Arizona Revised Statutes sections 4-101, 4-203, 4-205, 4-209, 4-243, 4-244, 42-3001, 42-3355, and 42-3356 to update references and grammar related to spirituous liquor licensing.

• Removes obsolete "domestic" prefixes from farm winery and microbrewery definitions in tax code sections 42-3001, 42-3355, and 42-3356 for consistency with state liquor licensing provisions.
