HB 2370 Summary

• Repeals the authority for the Arizona Department of Corrections director to establish and collect a one-time background check fee from visitors entering department facilities to visit prisoners.

• Removes the provision that allowed the director to waive all or part of visitor fees and exempted persons under 18 years of age from the fee.

• Eliminates the requirement to deposit collected visitor fees into the Department of Corrections Building Renewal Fund established under section 41-797.

• Amends section 41-797 to remove reference to section 41-1604, subsection B, paragraph 3 as a source of monies for the building renewal fund.
