HB 2488 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes Section 15-816.01 to address school district open enrollment policies and transportation provisions.

• Requires school districts to provide transportation limited to no more than 20 miles each way for eligible nonresident pupils meeting federal free or reduced lunch eligibility requirements.

• Establishes that school districts violating transportation requirements for eligible nonresident pupils are subject to state aid withholding under the same procedures as Section 15-922, subsection B.

• Maintains existing requirement that school districts provide transportation for nonresident pupils with disabilities when an individualized education program specifies transportation is necessary.
