AZ HCR2011

Proposes amendment to Article VII, Section 10 of the Arizona Constitution to replace the requirement for direct primary elections with alternative nomination methods including political party caucuses, conventions, or other nomination processes.

Allows political parties to determine whether to permit non-party members to participate in their nomination processes.

Removes the provision allowing registered "no party preference" or independent voters to vote in any qualified political party's primary election.

Requires the legislature to enact implementing laws for the new nomination system.

Submission to Arizona voters at the next general election is required upon approval by both chambers of the legislature.
