Arizona ratifies the proposed Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which was adopted by Congress on March 22, 1972.

The amendment provides that equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex.

Congress is granted power to enforce the amendment through appropriate legislation.

The amendment takes effect two years after the date of ratification.

Arizona's Secretary of State must transmit a copy of this resolution to the President of the U.S. Senate and Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
