Requires all public school personnel to complete at least two hours of suicide awareness and prevention training beginning in the 2015-2016 school year, with initial training within 12 months of hire and refresher training every five years thereafter.

Training must be provided within existing in-service or professional development programs and include instruction on identifying mental health services within schools and communities, and when/how to refer students and families to those services.

State Board of Education, in consultation with suicide prevention experts and stakeholders, shall develop a list of approved training materials that may include self-review options.

Training does not create a specific duty of care and provides immunity from liability for losses or damages resulting from implementation of the training requirements or any training provided/not provided.
