SB 1068 Summary

• Requires Arizona legislators to prepare and file a written statement disclosing any direct financial interest when voting on bills, memorials, or resolutions where they have such an interest.

• The disclosure statement must identify the legislation, the legislator's vote, and the nature of the direct financial interest, and must be posted on the legislator's webpage in a designated "disclosure of direct financial interest" section.

• Disclosure must be reported as soon as possible after the legislator casts their vote in the house or senate.

• Exempts votes where the direct financial interest applies to all legislators by virtue of their employment as public officers, and exempts votes cast in committee of the whole.

• Establishes violation of this disclosure requirement as a class 1 misdemeanor offense.
