AZ SB1114

Increases the compulsory school attendance age from 16 to 18 years old for all children in Arizona.

Amends section 15-802 to require children who are at least 6 and under 18 years of age to attend school, changing the previous requirement of ages 6-16.

Updates the high school equivalency diploma age requirement from 16 to 18 years old, requiring individuals to be 18 or older to qualify for the diploma.

Modifies employment exemption provisions to allow children at least 16 years of age (rather than over 14) to be excused from school attendance if employed with parental consent.

Applies the new age requirements throughout relevant school attendance statutes including sections 15-803 and 15-805 regarding truancy enforcement and attendance officer duties.
