AZ SB1153

Prohibits the State Board of Education from implementing Common Core standards in English and mathematics until holding at least one public hearing in each congressional district with board member attendance and collecting public testimony.

Requires the Department of Education to contract with an independent entity to conduct a fiscal analysis of the projected costs of implementing Common Core standards before adoption.

Mandates the State Board compare Common Core standards to other nationally recognized standards and prohibits adoption of Common Core standards in subject areas other than English and mathematics.

Requires Arizona to withdraw from the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers and prohibit implementation of assessments aligned to Common Core standards, replacing them with different assessments.

Prohibits the State Board of Education from entering into or renewing any agreement that gives outside entities control over curricular standards or assessments in Arizona.
