Appropriates $500,000 from the technology-based language development and literacy intervention fund to the Department of Education in fiscal year 2015-2016 for grants to school districts and charter schools.

Grants are designated to fund reading-intensive programs with the goal of maximizing the number of third-grade pupils who meet or exceed state reading standards.

Department of Education has discretion in determining individual grant amounts, with consideration given to the number of English language learners, percentage of pupils eligible for free and reduced price lunch programs, and historical reading performance data.

Eligible recipients must be school districts or charter schools that received K-3 reading support level funding under Arizona Revised Statutes section 15-943 in fiscal year 2015-2016.
