Requires health care professionals authorized to prescribe medications under Arizona law to check the controlled substances prescription monitoring program database before prescribing a controlled substance to an AHCCCS member.

Exempts board-eligible or board-certified oncologists and hematologists from the database check requirement when prescribing medically necessary controlled substances for cancer pain or progressive sickle cell disease treatment.

Requires pharmacists licensed under Arizona law and serving as AHCCCS providers to check the prescription monitoring program database before filling controlled substance prescriptions for members.
