AZ SB1201

Establishes the Arizona historical society board of directors with appointed members including one representative from each county, one member recommended by designated historical organizations per county, and five at-large public members.

Requires board members to have knowledge and competence in Arizona history preservation, be society members or become members before senate confirmation, and be appointed by the governor pursuant to section 38-211 for four-year terms.

Clarifies board powers including annual designation of nonprofit historical organizations in each county, authority to employ an executive director and staff, contract authority with certified historical organizations, and operation of historical markers and the centennial mining and mineral museum.

Allows existing board members serving on the bill's effective date to continue until their current terms expire, with all subsequent appointments made under the new statutory requirements.
