AZ SB1303

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes Section 15-236 to require the Department of Education to conduct program and fiscal audits of selected district special education programs annually, with findings due by February 3 of each year.

Authorizes the Department to recompute a school district's weighted student count for educational support services and adjust state aid if a child is determined to be inappropriately placed in a special education program.

Requires the Department of Education to request a separate line item appropriation for special education program audits in its annual budget estimate.

Mandates the Department complete a comprehensive cost study of special education programs on or before December 1, 2015, and every two years thereafter, analyzing costs of providing special education services under Arizona law.
