AZ SB1322

Prohibits hospital service corporations, medical service corporations, health care services organizations, group disability insurers, and blanket disability insurers from excluding or denying coverage based solely on an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis.

Requires coverage for medically necessary behavioral therapy services (including applied behavior analysis, discrete trial training, pivotal response training, and intensive intervention programs) when provided or supervised by a licensed or certified provider.

Exempts limited benefit coverage and services provided outside Arizona from the coverage requirements.

Defines autism spectrum disorder as autistic disorder, Asperger's syndrome, or pervasive developmental disorder–not otherwise specified, according to the most recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

Allows insurers and corporations to impose deductibles, coinsurance, and other cost-sharing provisions, and to apply all standard contract terms and conditions to the required autism spectrum disorder coverage.
