AZ HB2040

Establishes a joint committee on county boundary changes consisting of seven members: two senators (different parties), two representatives (different parties), and three additional representatives appointed by the governor, senate president, and house speaker representing specific county population ranges, plus one representative each from the Navajo Nation and Hopi Tribe.

Committee shall study the feasibility of changing county boundaries, including fiscal and related impacts, and the economic impact on specific counties likely to pursue boundary changes.

Committee must submit a report with findings and recommendations to the governor, senate president, and house speaker by December 31, 2016, with a copy to the secretary of state.

Committee is automatically repealed on September 30, 2017.
