Schools and charter schools may adopt policies requiring all persons entering school property during school hours (including one hour before start and two hours after end of school) to sign in at the school office and show government-issued or company-issued identification.

School property includes all property within school boundaries, and the sign-in requirement applies to employees, agents, service providers, vendors, technicians, contractors, and subcontractors.

Peace officers are authorized to remove from school property any person who fails to comply with an adopted sign-in policy.

School districts or charter schools that adopted visitor policies before this law's effective date are not required to adopt a new policy under this section.

Utility, telecommunication, or cable provider employees or agents are exempt from the sign-in requirement during emergencies requiring immediate property access, provided they notify the school as soon as practicable.
