Employers with at least 50 employees in Arizona must grant employees up to 16 hours per school year of unpaid leave to attend school conferences or activities for their child, with no more than 4 hours per day.

Employee eligibility requires exhausting vacation, personal, and compensatory leave first; employment for at least 6 consecutive months; and working at least half-time equivalent hours in their job classification.

Employees must provide written notice at least 7 days in advance (or 24 hours for emergencies) and consult with employers to minimize operational disruption.

Schools must make conferences and activities available during both regular school hours and evening hours, and may provide verification of attendance upon request.

Employers are not required to grant leave if doing so would result in more than 5% of the workforce taking such leave simultaneously.
