HB2455 Summary

• Establishes a joint wildfire suppression study committee with 13 members including legislative representatives, state officials, university representatives, and public members appointed by the governor.

• Committee shall study actual and economic costs of wildfire suppression and catastrophic wildfires on state and private lands in Arizona.

• Committee shall evaluate costs and benefits of wildfire prevention planning and forest management, and research economic development opportunities in vegetative removal, forest products, and biomass energy industries.

• Committee must submit a report with findings and recommendations to the governor, president of the senate, and speaker of the house by December 31, 2016.

• The committee is repealed effective September 30, 2017.
