AZ HB2627

Increases Arizona Criminal Justice Commission membership from 14 to 18 appointed members by the governor, with no more than 9 from the same political party.

Adds two new required member positions: one crime victim advocate and one former prison inmate who advocates for prisoner rights.

Adds one public defender to each of three regional categories (large, medium, and small population counties) as required appointees.

Requires the commission to submit a comprehensive report to the legislature by December 31, 2016 with policy recommendations on reducing recidivism, expanding reentry services, revising sentencing laws, reducing prison population, and improving supervision and accountability.

Repeals the reporting requirement section effective June 30, 2017.
