SB 1034 Summary

• Removes the requirement that voter registration applicants submit evidence of United States citizenship with their registration application.

• Eliminates provisions requiring county recorders to reject registration applications lacking satisfactory citizenship documentation (birth certificates, passports, naturalization documents, etc.).

• Removes voter identification requirements at polling places, including provisions requiring presentation of valid photo ID or two alternative documents bearing name and address before receiving a ballot.

• Requires a three-fourths affirmative vote in both houses of the legislature for these amendments to sections 16-152, 16-166, and 16-579 of Arizona Revised Statutes to become effective, per Article IV, Part 1, Section 1 of the Arizona Constitution.
