AZ SCR1017

Increases independent redistricting commission membership from 5 to 8 commissioners, with no more than 3 members from the same political party instead of 2.

Requires geographic distribution of commissioners with 4 from the most populous county, 2 from the second most populous county, and 2 from remaining counties.

Expands the nomination pool from 25 to 40 candidates (15 from each major party and 10 unaffiliated), with candidates allocated by county representation.

Modifies the appointment process to include two additional joint appointments by same-party legislative leaders after the initial four individual appointments by legislative officers.

Increases quorum requirement from 3 to 5 commissioners and requires 5 affirmative votes for official action instead of 3.
