HB 2047 Summary

• Changes the minimum age for employees handling spirituous liquor from 19 years old to 18 years old in Arizona Revised Statutes sections 4-205.06 and 4-244.

• Allows 18-year-olds (instead of 19-year-olds) to work in hotel and motel minibars, inventory and restock spirituous liquors, and handle liquor in licensed establishments.

• Reduces the minimum supervisory age from 19 to 18 years old for off-sale retailers employing 16-year-olds to check out, package, or carry merchandise including spirituous liquor.

• Updates multiple provisions in unlawful liquor sales statutes to reflect the new 18-year minimum age requirement for employees involved in manufacturing, selling, or disposing of spirituous liquor.

• Effective upon signature by the Governor on March 24, 2017.
