• Amends section 8-116 regarding adoption court orders to clarify that the order may change a child's name to the name requested by adoptive parents in the petition, and requires courts to consider the child's wishes regarding name changes if the child is twelve years of age or older.

• Amends section 8-202 to add juvenile court jurisdiction over name changes for minor children who are the subject of actions where parental rights are terminated under specified chapters, with the same requirement that courts consider the child's wishes if the child is twelve years of age or older.

• Took effect upon Governor approval on April 18, 2017.
