Department of Child Welfare shall provide three hours of trauma-informed care training to all foster parents and child welfare agency employees who have direct contact with children.

Foster parents and employees already licensed or employed as of the effective date must complete the training within two years; those hired or licensed after must complete within two years of their hire or licensing date.

Department shall work with behavioral health providers contracted with Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System to offer ongoing developmentally appropriate training provided by individuals with a master's degree in behavioral health and specialized infant mental health training.

Training must be approved by the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System in consultation with infant and toddler mental health professionals.

Hours completed in trauma-informed care training may count toward foster parent initial and ongoing training requirements under section 8-509.
