Adds "appropriate health care professional" to the definitions in the nursing laws, meaning a licensed health care professional whose scope of practice, education, experience, training and accreditation are appropriate for the situation or condition of the patient.

Modifies the definition of "registered nurse practitioner" to change references from "clients" to "patients" and clarifies language regarding consultation and referral to other health care professionals.

Authorizes the Arizona State Board of Nursing to establish rules allowing registered nurse practitioners to practice in collaboration with a licensed physician or a certified nurse midwife (previously only with a physician).

Renumbers all definitions in Section 32-1601 from items 2-24 to items 3-25 to accommodate the new "appropriate health care professional" definition as item 2.

Applies to activities of certified nurse midwives, clinical nurse specialists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and nursing assistants in addition to registered nurse practitioners.
