AZ SB1322

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes Section 41-2405 to add a new duty requiring the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission to review and make recommendations to the legislature on changing earned release credits for nonviolent offenders to allow one day credit for every three days served.

Requires the commission to make recommendations on reducing mandatory minimum sentence requirements and removing the ability of judges or the Board of Executive Clemency to order reincarceration for technical violations of release conditions.

Maintains all existing powers and duties of the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission, including monitoring criminal justice legislation, preparing biennial system reviews, overseeing criminal justice statistics, and compiling information on cold case investigations.

Authorizes the commission to request information from state and local criminal justice agencies, form subcommittees, conduct studies and hearings, and employ consultants and staff necessary to carry out its functions.
