SB 1379 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 28-6392 regarding county regional area road funds, which distribute monies from the county's regional area road fund to counties, cities, and towns monthly as determined by the board of supervisors.

• Requires jurisdictions receiving revenues to use them only for street and highway purposes or transportation projects included in the county's regional transportation plan.

• If the auditor general reports that a jurisdiction misused revenues, the department must require immediate repayment as a lump sum or in consecutive annual payments of at least 10 percent per fiscal year.

• If a jurisdiction fails to timely repay, the state treasurer shall withhold that jurisdiction's revenues until it presents evidence satisfactory to the auditor general showing it has spent equivalent monies for prescribed purposes from another general revenue source.

• Authorizes the state treasurer to invest and divest monies in the county's regional area road fund with investment earnings credited back to the fund.
