SB 1385 Summary

• Adds verification of the last four digits of an applicant's social security number as an acceptable form of satisfactory evidence of United States citizenship for voter registration purposes.

• Allows existing registered voters as of December 8, 2004 to be deemed as having provided satisfactory citizenship evidence without resubmission, unless changing registration from one county to another.

• Updates terminology referencing the "immigration and naturalization service" to "citizenship and immigration services."

• Requires passage by a three-fourths affirmative vote of both legislative houses to become effective, per Arizona Constitution Article IV, Part 1, Section 1.
