Notary publics who are not attorneys and advertise services in non-English languages must include a notice in English and that language stating "I am not an attorney and cannot give legal advice about immigration or any other legal matters," with exception for single desk plaques.

Non-attorney notaries are prohibited from providing any service for compensation that constitutes unauthorized practice of immigration and nationality law as defined in statute.

Violation of the immigration law prohibition results in a civil penalty of up to $1,000 and permanent revocation of the notary's commission.

Violation of the language advertisement notice requirement is classified as a class 6 felony and results in permanent revocation of the notary's commission.

Legislature intends to restrict immigration and nationality law representation to authorized attorneys and accredited representatives while protecting Arizona residents from harm caused by unlawful legal practice.
