SB 1516 Summary

• Amends Arizona's Smoke-free Arizona Act (A.R.S. 36-601.01) to include vapor products in the definition of "smoking," making the use of vapor products subject to the same smoking restrictions as tobacco products in public places and places of employment.

• Adds a new definition of "vapor product" with the same meaning as prescribed in section 13-3622, and creates an exception allowing retail stores that sell vapor products exclusively with independent ventilation systems to permit their use on premises.

• Requires the amendment to be effective only upon affirmative vote of at least three-fourths of the members of each house of the legislature, per Arizona Constitution Article IV, Part 1, Section 1.
