AZ HB2002

Amends section 41-3451 of the Arizona Revised Statutes to modify how the Automobile Theft Authority Fund handles excess monies beyond the legislative appropriation.

Establishes that monies in the fund exceeding the yearly legislative appropriation are automatically appropriated to the authority, with the requirement that the authority submit a report to the joint legislative budget committee before spending any excess monies.

Removes language requiring legislative appropriation before fund monies can be spent, replacing it with automatic appropriation of excess monies subject to committee review.

Provides a one-time appropriation for fiscal year 2017-2018 for all monies deposited in the Automobile Theft Authority Fund that exceed the appropriation made by Laws 2017, chapter 305, section 15.

Requires the Automobile Theft Authority to report to the joint legislative budget committee on intended uses of excess monies before expenditure.
