AZ HB2008

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 15-821 regarding school admission requirements for children between ages 6 and 21 who reside in the school district.

Allows schools to request transcripts from a pupil's previous school after obtaining consent from the pupil's parent when a pupil transfers to a new school.

Maintains existing provisions for kindergarten and first grade admission based on age requirements (child must turn 5 before September 1 for kindergarten, 6 before September 1 for first grade).

Preserves provisions allowing governing boards to admit underage children if determined to be in the child's best interest, with determination based on consultations with parents, child, teacher, and principal.

Maintains existing provisions allowing children residing with family members during pending guardianship or custody proceedings to be deemed residents of the school district where the family member resides with proper documentation.
