Charter schools in Arizona would be required to participate in and comply with the National School Lunch and Child Nutrition Acts (42 USC sections 1751-1793), adding this as a new mandatory charter requirement.

The bill amends Section 15-183 of the Arizona Revised Statutes governing charter school applications, requirements, and operations.

Currently, charter schools are exempt from most statutes and rules relating to schools except as specifically provided in their charter; this bill adds federal school lunch program participation as a non-exempt requirement.

The requirement would apply to all charter schools in Arizona regardless of their sponsoring entity (state board of education, state board for charter schools, universities, or community college districts).
