HB 2392 Summary

• Department of Child Safety and Department of Education must identify or develop a statewide child sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention program by July 1, 2019 for use in all public schools.

• Program must include teacher training modules on prevention, identification, and response to child sexual abuse; age-appropriate educational materials for K-12 students on recognition and disclosure; and uniform response policies with reporting procedures.

• Each local education agency must implement the statewide program by October 1, 2019.

• Parents or legal guardians may exempt their students from participation in the program in its entirety or from any specified portion through written notification to the school.

• The program terminates on July 1, 2028.
