Expands vehicle license tax exemption to veterans with at least 40 percent disability resulting from lower limb amputation who are drawing compensation on that basis.

Previously, exemption applied only to veterans with 100 percent disability; new law adds veterans with 40 percent or greater disability from lower limb amputation.

Extends exemption to surviving spouses of disabled veterans until remarriage or death, allowing them to renew registration for one vehicle without paying license tax.

Requires veterans claiming exemption to present proof of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs disability rating or compensation at initial vehicle registration.

Exemption applies to one vehicle or any replacement vehicle owned by the veteran or surviving spouse.
