AZ HB2548

Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 32-3248.02 to modify continuing medical education requirements for health professionals authorized to prescribe or dispense controlled substances.

Requires health professionals with valid DEA registration who prescribe Schedule II controlled substances or those authorized to dispense controlled substances under Arizona law to complete a minimum of 3 hours of opioid-related, substance use disorder-related, or addiction-related continuing medical education per license renewal cycle.

The 3 hours of required continuing education must be included as part of any other continuing education requirements for the health professional's license.

Effective date: April 5, 2018 (signed into law by the Governor).
