AZ HCR2016

Proposes constitutional amendment to Article V, Section 12 of Arizona Constitution to establish legislative salaries equal to the annual salary of a county supervisor in a county with population of 500,000 or more persons, effective January 6, 2020.

Eliminates the existing procedure where the Commission on Salaries for Elective State Officers can propose legislative salary changes subject to voter approval, replacing it with automatic alignment to county supervisor salaries.

Maintains the commission's authority to recommend salaries for other elected state officers (non-legislature), which remain subject to gubernatorial recommendation and legislative approval or disapproval.

Requires the Secretary of State to submit the proposition to voters at the next general election for approval under Article XXI of the Arizona Constitution.
