Recognizes that Arizona's publicly funded mental health system should benefit patients and protect the public by providing treatment to those unable or unwilling to voluntarily accept care.

Acknowledges that families of persons with mental illness have the right to respectful and compassionate treatment when seeking appropriate care and resources for their family member.

Calls for families to receive assistance navigating the complex and confusing mental health system and information about available community resources and support services.

Urges the Legislature to ensure the mental health system is adequately funded to address the growing number of untreated mentally ill persons in Arizona and that public funding is used appropriately.

Honors the memory of Reyna Isabel Estrada, who was killed on July 14, 2017 by her older brother, who suffered from untreated mental illness, as a tragic reminder of consequences from ignoring mental illness symptoms in communities.
