School districts and charter schools may offer voluntary full-day kindergarten instruction to eligible pupils, with parents able to choose between half-day or full-day programs.

Full-day kindergarten instruction must meet or exceed state board of education academic standards for kindergarten and incorporate play as an instructional strategy.

Full-day kindergarten programs must be academically meaningful and provide active learning enrichment.

Charter schools offering full-day kindergarten must provide necessary capital monies to implement the program.

Parents of kindergarten pupils may choose either half-day or full-day kindergarten instruction pursuant to section 15-703.
