Senate Bill 1086 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 36-2907 to add chiropractic services performed by a licensed chiropractor as a covered health and medical service under the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) when ordered by a primary care physician or primary care practitioner.

• Prohibits use of monies from the hospital assessment fund (established by section 36-2901.09) to pay for chiropractic services.

• Requires AHCCCS administration to establish qualifying conditions for chiropractic services, prescribe provider qualifications, and require contractors to report usage and alternative treatments to determine cost savings.

• Mandates the AHCCCS administration to submit a cost savings report to the governor, legislature, and secretary of state by January 1, 2022.

• Sunsets the chiropractic services provisions on June 30, 2022, unless extended by subsequent legislation.
