SB 1125 Summary

• Adds verification of the last four digits of a social security number as satisfactory evidence of United States citizenship for voter registration applications in Arizona.

• Maintains that persons already registered as of December 8, 2004 are deemed to have provided satisfactory evidence of citizenship and are not required to resubmit evidence unless changing registration to another county.

• Allows county recorders to destroy citizenship evidence documents after two years once proof of citizenship has been submitted and recorded in the voter's permanent file.

• Requires an affirmative vote of at least three-fourths of the members of each house of the legislature for this amendment to take effect, per Arizona Constitution Article IV, Part 1, Section 1.
