SB 1253 Summary

• Repeals section 5-328 Arizona Revised Statutes and sections 17-333.01 and 17-336 Arizona Revised Statutes relating to game and fish licensing.

• Amends license signature requirements to allow the commission to prescribe the manner of signing licenses by rule, removing the previous requirement that licenses be signed in ink on the face.

• Removes the July 1, 2019 sunset date on the commission's authority to prescribe license classifications and fees, making this authority permanent.

• Changes the legislative review process from a mandatory annual review by the joint legislative audit committee to a discretionary review that may be assigned to a committee of reference every fifth year.

• Eliminates the fixed 5% compensation structure for license dealers and allows dealers to collect and retain a reasonable fee as determined by the dealer in addition to the license or permit fee.
