SB 1272 Summary

• Establishes a framework for revenue distribution if Arizona authorizes new Class III gaming in bars, beer and wine bars, casinos, and racetracks outside Indian reservations.

• Allocates gaming revenue as follows: 40% to Department of Public Safety, 40% to public school kindergarten through grade 12 funding, 2.5% to Attorney General for internet crimes against children enforcement, 2.5% to Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System for opioid addiction treatment, 5% equally distributed to counties, and 10% to state general fund.

• Limits Class III gaming in bars and beer and wine bars to table-top slot machines and limits Class III gaming at racetracks to slot machines only.

• Allows city or town councils to prohibit Class III gaming in their jurisdictions, or county boards of supervisors to prohibit gaming in unincorporated areas.

• Does not authorize Class III gaming itself; only establishes revenue distribution provisions if such gaming is authorized by future legislation.
